Background & Profile
Ian is an Innovation lecturer at Warwick, Bath and De Montfort Universities and is a registered mentor for the Princes Trust and Nottingham Business Venture (NBV). He is also a ‘Route to market’ coach for Connect Midlands and a Business Transformation Consultant for Business Link.
His hands-on sales background with international blue chip organisations such as Philips Electronics, Toyota and Vodafone is backed up with Chartered Marketer status and a degree in Engineering.
Ian has played a key role in many high profile projects including the UK launch of satellite navigation, location-based mobile phone services and emergency services life saving resource planning.
As a recognised innovation expert, Ian was a keynote speaker at the 2008 iFestival Innovation Expo .
Ian is also a ‘Business Champion’ and mentor for the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) in association with Pera, a leading innovation and business support organisation. This role enables Ian to test the robustness of his business models and innovation theories, by measuring how they can deliver social enterprise objectives. In doing so he is able to refine and improve the models and theories normally applied to private sector innovation commercialisation.
Ian is involved in a groundbreaking project for a nationwide Innovation Fellowships programme, working alongside academics to provide a commercial perspective and advise route to market strategies for University spin-out ventures.
